SIGIRIYA
Sigiriya, also known as Sinhagiri, is a historic rock stronghold in the northern Matale District of Sri Lanka’s Central Province, near the town of Dambulla. The name refers to the historical and archaeological site characterized by a huge rock column that stands approximately 180 meters (590 feet) tall.
Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the world’s greatest examples of ancient architecture, showcases ageless Sri Lankan ingenuity in the shape of fortified moats and beautiful water gardens with sophisticated irrigation systems typical of our early kings.
